What to do if you're affected by an ADHD medication shortage

Find out steps you can take if it's difficult to get your regular ADHD medication

There are shortages in ADHD medications across the UK affecting children and adults.

If your child is affected by the shortage in ADHD medications:

  • let your child’s school or setting know
  • agree a plan with the school’s SEN team about how to support your child
  • continue ordering repeat ADHD medication as usual
  • do not stockpile the medication
  • check stock at your local pharmacy
  • do not suddenly stop treatment unless advised to do so
  • contact your GP or specialist service if you are unable to find medication for your child
