How it can help
Chatten works with children and young people who are severely affected by their autism and associated learning difficulties.
Most pupils are pre-vocal or in the early stages of developing communicative skills. Many will display high levels if challenging behaviour and/or other complex needs that could not be supported in other SLD settings.
Chatten is a day school. It does not have residential places.
Age
4 to 19 years
Eligibility
To apply to a special school, a pupil must have:
- an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
- complex, high needs that cannot be met in a mainstream or standard severe learning difficulty setting.
How to access
Pupils are placed at the Chatten School by the Local Authority through the EHCP process.
For a child to be admitted, the school must be named, by their home local authority, in the child’s Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Further information on admissions to The Chatten School can be found on the school’s website.
