Sensory impairment service supports people who have a sight loss, hearing loss or combined sight and hearing loss, to maintain independence and dignity in every aspect of daily life
How it can help
ECL Sensory Services have a dedicated team of sensory specialists delivering services across Essex and beyond. You can get advice and information via telephone, textphone, SMS or email.
They offer rehabilitation services which can support around:
- cooking food safely
- finding safe routes to your regular places such as shops, workplace or relatives
- using public transport safely and confidently
- using specialist equipment, assistive technology or learning Braille
- employment, Access to Work scheme and reasonable adjustments your employers may need to make
- registering your sight impairment
The service can offer demonstrations, advice and in some cases, provide equipment on behalf of Essex County Council.
They also offer specialist one to one support to help with everyday activities and hospital appointments. They can help with training your Personal Assistant.
