Aims to break down perceptions towards SEND and mental health in schools and the wider community and gives children and young people a voice and offers them the opportunity to make a difference in their local area
How it can help
Children and young people from mainstream and special schools meet throughout the year at local schools. At each meeting, they talk about actions people can take to make a difference. These might be actions for the children themselves, for schools, or for the local authority.
Taking part in Multi-School Council meetings:
- improves confidence
- develops personal and social skills
- promotes important values like democracy and tolerance.
The Multi-Schools Council also offer schools:
- workshops and assemblies for young people about topics such as autism & ADHD
- staff training
The Multi-Schools Councils has over 125 young ambassadors who:
- take on different aspects of work based on their area of interest
- get involved in online and in-person meetings
- work regularly with other service to make improvements and have their voices heard.
