NHS - Children's Continence Service - North East Essex

Supports the continence requirements for children and young people with severe learning disabilities who are not yet toilet trained

How it can help

The Paediatric Service offers a contribution of products (nappies / pads) and will deliver them to you. 

They provide guidance on how to store and use the products. 

Your child’s continence products will need to be reviewed on a regular basis by a member of their team.

Age

0 to 18 or up to 19 years if in a North East Essex Special School

Eligibility

Children and young people with severe learning disabilities who are registered with a North East Essex GP

How to access

Parents/carers can self-refer their child, see details on their website on how to do this. 

Referrals are accepted from the following:

  • Specialist Health Visitor
  • GP
  • community paediatrician
  • CHUFT paediatrician and outpatient service
  • school
  • social care professional
  • education professional
