NHS - Children's Physiotherapy - North East Essex

Assesses and provides exercise programmes and advice for children and young people who have difficulties with their movement

How it can help

The support the Physiotherapy team can provide includes:

  • an initial assessment of your child’s needs, diagnosis of the problem
  • an individually tailored exercise/activity programme to target the problem area(s)
  • paediatric Pilates classes
  • hydrotherapy sessions
  • 1:1 sessions with a physiotherapist or a physiotherapy assistant

Age

0 to 18 or up to 19 years if in a North East Essex Special School

Eligibility

Children and young people who are registered with a North East Essex GP

How to access

Referral from a professional required, including: 

  • GP
  • paediatrician or specialist registrar
  • medical specialists, such as orthopaedic surgeons, neurologist, oncologists.
  • health visitor
  • health improvement nurse (formerly school nurse)
  • community nurse
  • allied health professionals, such as podiatrist, therapist
  • special educational needs co-ordinator with supporting medical information from GP or relevant health professional
  • social worker
