A group of doctors who provide assessment, diagnosis and management of children and young people in the Mid Essex area with developmental, learning and behavioural difficulties
How it can help
Specialist Paediatricians undertake assessment, diagnosis and management of children with a wide range of developmental difficulties and disabilities (plus associated conditions) in the following clinical areas:
- Developmental paediatrics including neurodisability such as Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, chromosomal/genetic conditions and syndromes
- Neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD
- Educational Paediatrics including statutory medical assessments and annual reviews of children with learning difficulties and/or complex additional needs
Age
0 to 18, or up to 19 if the child is still in education
Eligibility
Children and young people who are registered with a GP in the Mid Essex area
How to access
Referral from a healthcare professional required.
The most common route for referral is through a GP. Other professionals are also able to access the service if they or you have any concerns, including:
- Health Visitors
- School Nurses
- Audiologists
- Therapists
- Children's and Adolescent's Mental Health Service
