A service to diagnose autism in children and young people.
How it can help
A JADES assessment can rule out or confirm a diagnosis of autism in children.
Whether your child receives a diagnosis of autism or not, you will be given a plan of care, including a clear explanation, and recommendations for your child.
The JADES assessment usually involves a play-based assessment and a parent carer interview.
Age
2 to 18
Eligibility
Children and young people who are registered with a GP in the West Essex area.
Referrals must be completed by your child’s GP together with their teacher, Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) or early years practitioner.
How to access
A referral is needed to access JADES. Speak to a professional who knows your child, such as:
- GP
- therapist
- school or early years setting staff
- health visitor
- school nurse
