NHS - Wheelchair Service - Basildon, Brentwood and Thurrock

Provides assessment and provision of wheelchairs and other equipment to children and adults with long term and complex needs

How it can help

The wheelchair service is a multi-disciplinary team consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and rehabilitation engineers.

Their aim is to meet the clinical needs of our clients through provision of equipment to address their mobility issues.

Once assessed, equipment may be provided, including:

  • manual wheelchairs
  • specialist children's buggies
  • powered wheelchairs for indoor and outdoor independent use
  • wheelchair accessories
  • wheelchair cushions
  • supportive seating systems for wheelchairs

Eligibility

Adults or children in need of a wheelchair because of a permanent disability, who are registered with a GP in Basildon, Brentwood or Thurrock

How to access

Referral by a healthcare professional, such as a GP, occupational therapist or physiotherapist, required
