Blackwater Gymnastics - SEND sessions

Offer small group sessions for children and young people aged 3 to 16 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

How it can help

They offer sensory and development movement sessions for children and young people who have:

  • movement and coordination difficulties
  • learning difficulties

These sessions are run by qualified disability gymnastic instructors and an Occupational Therapist. They are designed to help develop sensory processing and regulation. Instructions are kept to a minimum and sessions follow the children's interests. This could include gently guiding them to roll, swing or jump.

Blackwater Gymnastics also offer SEND gymnastic sessions in a safe, small environment. These small group sessions are for children and young people who:

  • are diagnosed with SEND and have some body control
  • have social, emotional or mental health difficulties and find it difficult being in a fast paced or noisy environment
  • have no diagnosis but do not feel confident taking part in a larger group setting

Children develop their skills at their own pace and will lots of encouragement. An instructor supports small groups of two or three children.

They have a session dedicated for home educated children.
